Check out this photo of Jen's finished project from her blog.

We have all had the dilemma of what sort of party favors to give away. Well, luckily Jen over at New Green Mama blog has a great idea for reusing things we already have. She put together recycled scrapbooking kit party favors without buying a single thing.

She made journals out of plain paper and cereal boxes from the recycling bin, constructing them by following a tutorial from Ellen Luckett Baker's blog, The Long Thread. She cut cardboard from leftover cereal boxes and used a sewing machine to attach the blank paper to the cover. These easy, adorable journals are perfect for kids to practice their scrapbooking techniques in.

Using scraps from previously used paper and leftovers from cards, Jen cut fun shapes for the kids to decorate their journal. Finally she put the journals and the fun paper scraps in a large envelope that she labeled and tied up with twine.

Before your next party look around and see what you already have. Sometimes we overlook all of the amazing things we can create with things others may see as trash, or recycling.
